ZitatAlles anzeigenSunday, 1.30 pm: Continuing the Successful Streak
A glance at the league table currently fills the fans of 1. FC Kaiserslautern with delight. With seven points from three games, the team of head coach Marco Kurz lies third in the table. And there is no
doubt that the Red Devils travel to Paderborn on Sunday, August 30,2009, with the firm aim to pick up further points and to continue their successful streak.
The Red Devils made a real good start to the new season. After two wins in their first two fixtures and last week’s stalemate to Aachen, Marco Kurz and his men have dispelled any doubt about that. FCK has shown an impressive performance against the club from Aachen which has good prospects for promotion. The Red Devils were making numerous chances against Alemannia but failed to turn them into goals. If they would have successfully turned their dominance into goals, they would have won nine points from three games.
However, Marco Kurz underlines that his team shows what is important: possession, control over the opposition, imposing pressure and making chances. The FCK head coach has put his trust in the same starting line-up three times in a row, and these eleven players did not give him much reason for a change so far.
Even if - except for Srdjan Lakic (heel bone injury) and Manuel Hornig (bone edema) - all Red Devils are match fit, it is very likely that Kurz will start with the same line-up in Paderborn too. The home-grown player Sascha Kotysch has rejoined the team training, but he will still need some time to become completely match fit again. FCK coach Kurz praises the competition within the team that boosts the quality.
Quality is exactly what is needed in the match against the newly promoted team from Paderborn. With four points from three games, SC Paderborn is ahead of the highly estimated teams from Aachen, Bielefeld, Munich or Rostock. Particularly Paderborn’s 2-0 victory over Karlsruhe shows that SC Paderborn is absolutely able to achieve the aim of avoiding relegation.
Head coach Andre Schubert has a team that largely plays well together. With Jovan Damjanovic (Wehen Wiesbaden), Dominick Kumbela (RW Ahlen) and Karsten Fischer (SV Wuppertal) three important players have left the club in summer. Apart from that, the team has widely stayed the same. With Sebastian Schachten (who came on loan from Borussia Moenchengladbach) and shot-stopper Daniel Masuch (Kickers Emden) only two new signings are expected to be part of the starting line-up on Sunday.
In contrast to the squad, Paderborn’s venue is completely new. The old Hermann Loens Stadium has been replaced by the new ENERGIETEAM ARENA – a soccer stadium with a capacity of 15,000 spectators. No matter where 1. FC Kaiserslautern plays, the Red Devils can always count on their fans. On Sunday, about 1,200 FCK fans will be in Paderborn to back the Red Devils when they go in search for further points to continue the successful streak.
